The Highest-Quality Care, in a Hurry
Our emergency team holds itself to the highest standards of care and we take pride in meeting and exceeding them. From diagnosis and treatment to stabilization and coordination of advanced care, our staff is equipped and ready to handle the full spectrum of emergency needs with skill and dedication.
When Visiting the Emergency Room
- Triage: Upon arrival, you will be seen by a nurse who assesses your care needs based on your symptoms and the severity of your illness or injury.
- Registration: A patient access representative or registered nurse will collect information about the patient and current physicians. For questions about billing or insurance, a financial counselor at Kona Community Hospital or the Business Office at Kohala Hospital is available to assist you.
- Medical Care: Every patient is assigned an emergency department nurse who will be with you throughout your visit.
Emergency Department Physicians
The attending physician is responsible for overseeing all patient care in the Emergency Department. If you have any questions or concerns, your physician or nurse is always available to help. If you have a primary care physician or specialist, please let us know — we may reach out to coordinate the best possible care for you.
