Transportation Capabilities
Minutes count during cardiac and other emergencies, making transportation times critical. Because of this, West Hawaii Region has partnerships with Life Flight Network, Optimum Air and Hawaii Life Flight to operate a medically equipped, over-water rotor copter for emergent patient transfers.
Thes partnership are configured for medical emergency transport prior to arrival on Hawai‘i Island and used to transfer patients. Kona Community Hospital staff will coordinate patient transfers with the critical care communications center.
This service will give critical patients 24/7 access to reduce emergency transfer times from Kona Community Hospital.
